One of Argo Wireless’s partners, ID Integration, is leading critical work with the FDA to modernize laboratory asset tracking through passive RFID. The result: a working system—IDAS (Integrated Digital Asset System)—that’s already active in FDA labs and delivering measurable improvements in compliance, efficiency, and data integrity.
Presented by ID Integration CEO Gary Moe at RFID Journal LIVE! and AIM Global Webinar, IDAS showcases how standard passive RFID technology, when properly engineered and integrated, can replace manual logging processes and bring real-time visibility to chemical and equipment inventories.
Engineered for Government Lab Environments
IDAS is built to track four main asset categories without manual data entry:
- Chemicals and solvents
- Lab supplies (e.g., pipettes, glassware)
- Lab equipment
- Internal and external samples
Each item is RFID-tagged and linked to the FDA’s Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELNs), enabling:
- Real-time asset visibility
- Auto-association of materials with experiment records
- Alerting for expiring chemicals
- Streamlined documentation for audits and regulatory reviews
All of this happens without line-of-sight requirements, reducing the burden on lab staff and increasing confidence in the accuracy of recorded data.
Technical Performance, Regulatory Alignment
Built for compliance with FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER) and Office of Testing and Research (OTR) standards, IDAS supports:
- Fully automated asset tracking
- Reduction of human error in documentation
- Greater traceability of materials used in experiments
- Improved inventory control and reduced waste
The system also identifies usage patterns, optimizing reorder cycles and providing detailed audit trails—critical in government regulated lab environments.
Argo Wireless: Powering RFID Partnership That Works
“Working with Argo Wireless gives us the confidence that the RFID infrastructure behind IDAS will perform to the same high standards our customers demand from the software,” said Gary Moe, President and CEO of ID Integration. “They understand the complexities of RF environments to help us deliver a more reliable, scalable solution to our customers.”
The collaboration between ID Integration and Argo Wireless is a model for how engineering partnerships can bring scalable RFID solutions to life—solving real problems in real labs.To see the system in action, watch the AIM Global webinar replay (Gary Moe at 24:33)]
